Canvas

Canvas lets you reshape the pixel art of your Normies. Pixels come from burning other Normies, or from the Pixel Market. Every edit is stored on chain permanently.

Burning

Burn Normies you own to earn pixels. The more filled pixels a burned Normie has, the more it pays. The pixels land on a Normie you own, raising its ceiling, or in your wallet, ready to put on any Normie you own or to list on the Pixel Market. Pixels already on a burned Normie move across whole.

  • Commit: pick the Normies to burn and where the pixels land. The Normies are burned at once.
  • Reveal: about a minute later (5 blocks), reveal. The block hash rolls a percentage for each burned Normie.

Reveal within about 50 minutes. After that the block hash is gone and each burned Normie pays the minimum for its tier. You never lose the reward, only the roll.

Burn tiers

The share of a burned Normie’s pixels it pays depends on how many it has. The team can tune the tiers; the tool always reads the live ones.

Pixels on a Normie

The pixels on a Normie are its painting ceiling: at most that many pixels may differ from the base art. Painting never spends them, so you can redo an edit as often as you like within the ceiling.

The pixels the current edit uses are locked; the rest are free. The owner can take free pixels off into their wallet without touching the edit. Taking more resets the edit to the base art, and the contract refuses unless you confirm it.

Levels

A Normie’s level is pixels on it / 10 + 1, read live. Putting pixels on raises it; taking them off, or paying for a size change from the Normie, lowers it.

Painting

Add pixels to empty spots or remove existing ones, then apply. The edit is a layer stored on chain and composited onto the base art. In the editor, added pixels show green and removed ones grey; the chain stays monochrome.

Bigger and blank canvases

A canvas can grow from 40x40 to 50, 60, 70 or 80 per side, with the art centred and any edit moving with it. At launch that costs 900, 2,000, 3,300 or 4,800 pixels in total, one per pixel added, and an upgrade costs the difference. A blank canvas drops the base art for 200 pixels. Both are paid from the wallet or from the Normie, and both burn the pixels out of circulation.

Delegates and allowances

Set one Canvas delegate per Normie, a wallet or a contract that can paint it for you: an artist, a hot wallet, an app. A wallet you delegated to on delegate.xyz is treated the same. Delegates paint and nothing else. A delegation lapses when the Normie changes hands and works again if it comes back to the wallet that set it.

Delegates never spend your pixels. Only you take pixels off a Normie. Another wallet can put pixels on, enlarge or blank for you only with an allowance: a number of pixels it may spend from your wallet or your Normies. An allowance is custody of that amount, so give what is needed and revoke afterwards. The team can pause every allowance at once; your own actions are never affected.

The old canvas

The original canvas is paused. Its balances and delegations were copied into the new storage once, at the switch. A burn committed there and never revealed can still be revealed there.

Agentic

Agentic binds your Normie to an ERC-8004 agent identity through Adapter8004. Each agent gets a persona drawn from its on-chain traits and Canvas state, and the identity follows the NFT. Transfer the Normie, transfer the agent.

See the Agentic docs for how personas are made, what ERC-8004 and Adapter8004 are, and what is shipping.

Zombies

Zombie is a fifth Type, reached only by conversion, and there will only ever be 21. The claim went to the wallets in a burn-history snapshot; each turned one Level 1 Human it held into a bespoke Zombie through a merkle-gated commit-reveal. All 21 have risen.

A converted Normie keeps its Canvas: its edits now composite onto the Zombie art rather than the human original. See every one on /lab/zombies.

Arena

Arena is a fully autonomous agent game. Awakened Normies live in a persistent pixel world where they hunt, fish, trade, form bonds and fight monsters, each on its own judgement. Nobody steers them; holders enter their Normies and watch what they become.

Each Normie decides with its survival first, then a decision model choosing among the moves it could really make, a life goal it can finish and replace, and a temperament that starts from its persona and bends with experience. A game master sets off world events.

Arena is still a work in progress. Features and mechanics may change.

Pixel Market

Burning earns pixels. Pixel Market is where they change hands. A pixel is either on a Normie, where it raises how far that Normie’s art may differ from the original, or loose in a wallet, where it can be listed, bought, or put on a Normie you own.

  • Take off: the owner moves pixels from a Normie into their wallet.
  • Put on: the owner puts wallet pixels onto their own Normie, or a wallet with an allowance from the owner does it for them. Deposits onto other people’s Normies are refused, so pixels only change hands through the market.
  • No direct sends: there is no wallet-to-wallet transfer. Pixels move between wallets only through a trade.

Listings

Listings are sell-side only, priced in ETH per pixel. The seller chooses partial, so buyers can take some of the pixels, or all or none. Listing moves the pixels into the market contract; cancelling brings back whatever is unsold, at any time. Once a listing has expired, anyone can return its unsold pixels to the seller. Buyers pay exactly the listed price, one listing at a time or several in one transaction.

A fee comes out of the seller’s proceeds in the same transaction: 10% at launch, which is also its hard cap, so it can only go down. Half goes to the team and half straight into the holder revenue pool. Nothing accrues in the market.

  • Floor: a listing cannot go below a minimum price per pixel, about five dollars at launch, adjusted by the team as ETH moves. Without it a near-free listing would be a way to move pixels between wallets.
  • Cooldown: pixels that just arrived in a wallet, whether taken off a Normie, bought or handed back by a cancel, wait a minute before they can be listed, put on or spent. Burn rewards never wait. The team can lengthen the wait for a specific contract, up to seven days; the pixels always free up when it ends.
  • Allowances: wallet pixels are only ever moved by their holder, or by a wallet the holder approved for an amount. A delegation of any kind never reaches a wallet balance.

Revenue share

Half of every Pixel Market fee and half of the collection’s 5% OpenSea royalty land in one pool, paid to holders in epochs.

A wallet’s score is its Normies times a bracket for how many it holds, plus every #PIXEL it holds, all times a boost for how much #PIXEL that is. Five #PIXEL count as much as one Normie. A #PIXEL weighs the same on a Normie, in the wallet or in a listing. A wallet needs at least one Normie: with none it scores zero, whatever #PIXEL it holds.

  • Time weighted: a wallet is scored at four unpredictable moments a day and the epoch pays the average, so holding through the epoch is what counts.
  • Epochs: payouts are computed from chain state by an open scorer and posted as a Merkle root. Claims open 24 hours after an epoch is posted, so a wrong root can be cancelled before it pays anything. Anyone can recompute the root from an archive node.
  • Unclaimed: each epoch has a claim window fixed when it is posted, a year today and never under 30 days. After it, what nobody claimed goes back into the pool for later epochs. What a posted epoch owes can only leave through claims.
